New Xbox 360 Dashboard - November 19th

The launch of the "New Xbox Experience" has been announced as Novemeber 19th world wide.
There isn't much to this post because really we'll have to wait and see. It seems to me like it would take a lot of power and time to completely update the dashboard of every 360 console in every home and I still don't know how they plan on doing it but I assume they worked that out.

Anyway, come November 19th you'll either be waking up to a brand new 'Xbox Experience' or the entire Xbox world will witness a massive systems crash and existence as you know it will be gone forever ...

...well probably not, but you never know.

(If it does happen you can't blame me)

BREAKING NEWS! Nintendo Announces DSi

Nintendo DSi has been announced with new and improved features, and a shorter battery life. Let me tell you playing this system with the setting “brightness of 3 suns mode” is sure going to take a bite out of the battery on this system, play time stated to be 3 to 4 hours max. Hit the jump for specs and neat pictures.

The Nintendo DSi features new and enlarged screens now at an impressive 3.25 inches, 17% bigger than the DS Lites. As for other additions to the console they have also improved the “audio capability” with some new speakers and audio playing software for Mp3’s and other various audio content. Along with the much rumored update of a built in camera featuring an awesome .3 mega pixel (640×480) camera. Which is pretty much a somewhat decent camera phone add on.

The pricing for said content ranges from Free, 200 points, 500 points and “Premium” or 800 points. Customers will get 1000 free points to spend at the DSi Shop that are good until March 2010.

Battery time on the system ranges depending on what brightness setting you are using on the hand held. Minimal brightness gets you the most bang for your buck at 14 hours. Low Brightness 8-12 Hours, Medium Brightness 6-9 Hours, High Brightness 4-6 hours, and finally the mentioned Maximum Brightness at 3-4 hours.

Since the DSi will be released on November 1 in Japan, and retailing for about a £180. Chances are we will be seeing these DSi’s in the wild no later than December.

Guitar Hero World Tour UK Pre-Order Deal

UK gamers who pre-order the full band version of Guitar Hero World Tour will get a second guitar completely free, according to Activision. The 'Complete Band Game' version of the game costs £149.99 and comes with a copy of the Guitar Hero World Tour, a wireless guitar, a drum kit and a microphone. But if you pre-order it at any UK store before its release date on 14 November 2008, you'll also get a second wireless guitar absolutely free of charge. This means you'll be able to have a full four-player experience out of the box, with a lead guitarist, a bass guitarist, a drummer and a singer, without having to spend an extra £50 or so on a second guitar.

If you're pre-ordering the game, be sure to make sure the shop you're getting it from is definitely honouring this deal to avoid disappointment. Sites like Amazon have already included the deal to the game's product page.

Mii's Playable In Guitar Hero World Tour

Confirmed today, there will be a Wii specific mode in Guitar Hero World Tour called ‘Mii Freestyle’. This new mode does not only allow you to play as your Mii avatars, but also utilizes the Wii remote, and nunchuk for Air Drumming, Air Guitar, etc. Details are scarce as we await an official public statement from Activision, but the above image strongly points to some truth in the news leak.

Are the few of you that were getting GH4 on other platforms tempted to purchase the Wii version now? Not only do you get the exact same version, but a whole new built in mode that could potentially add hours upon hours of fun to an already high replay value title. could potentially add hours upon hours of fun to an already high replay value title.

Wii Music??

Pay & Play For Guitar Hero World Tour

Though Activision has stated many times that the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour would support downloadable content we were still unsure of how they were going to go about gobbling up our money. Obviously the above box art revealed today that Activision will be accepting Wii point payment via Nintendo’s ‘Pay & Play’ program. This must mean a new Channel option inside the Wii Shop Channel with Track downloads avaliable to purchase with basic Wii points. Awesome.

Sega Returns To Form, Edgy Marketing In Full Effect

In the early 90s, many Nintendo fans defected to Genesis in search of edgier gameplay because of smart marketing from Sega. Well it seems the company is back to its old tricks, only this time it’s targeting Wii naysayers. Says Headstrong Games, makers of House of the Dead: Overkill:

"There’s a lot of Wii fans worried about the decline of decent hardcore games on the system. No, guys — we’re not making a 30 hour-plus RPG here, but we are making something you are going to have a complete blast playing. We are making it with a nod to one of the greatest arcade series of all time and we hope you’ll just purely enjoy teaming up with buddies and posting those high scores on the forums with the rest of us…It’ll beat the sh@t out of grooming a horse."

Clever Sega. I like your style. I’m sure you’ll be rewarded financially for zigging while other remaining publishers are still doubting.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days Screens

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days is the first handheld Kingdom Hearts game to be released since Chain Of Memories came out for DS in 2005. There is no confirmed UK date yet but it will be released in Japan this winter and there are a bunch of new screens at Official Nintendo Magazines website.

These new screens don't reveal any classic Disney characters but we can see Roxas and Axel in action. The game takes place take place during the year Sora was asleep after Kingdom Hearts: Chain Of Memories. The game begins when Roxas enters Organization XIII and follows his journey through a variety of Disney worlds.

In addition to the single player adventure you can rope in three friends for a mission-based multi-player game which will feature co-op and competitive battles.
